Setting Up A Product On JVZoo – Episode #5

In episode #5 we begin Part 1 of 3 of the Payment Platform week. Today we talk about setting up your product to sell using JvZoo.

Welcome to episode 5 of IM Video Pod. We’re going to start a new week on payment platform training and the different types of options you have. We’re going to talk about JVZoo and Warrior Plus this week.

What Is JVZoo?

Just a few things I mentioned about JVZoo before we get started and as I’ve said there are hundreds of different networks out there that you can actually get paid on. Over the past five or six years I think JVZoo was probably the first to introduce a good instant payment system. It requires you to have a PayPal account and I think it does work with credit cards as well. But if you want to get approved or if you want affiliates to promote, I think most people want instant payments via PayPal. So JVZoo is very, very good in that way. It allows you to set up products really easy within the network. Now, I’ve covered this training that I’m about to show you guys, over the last three years, with various webinars and clients. Some people think it’s very easy, other people are a little bit scratching their head afterwards. Realistically guys, just like all the other networks, all you’re doing is filling in the blanks. When I’m going through this today, I’m just gonna explain a few technical parts as well, which might be new even to some seasoned marketers. So that’s the plan guys. I think I’m gonna switch over to the computer and we are gonna get going.

First, go to and login. You can create a free account there and connect your PayPal account. If you are in America I think you have to put in tax forms as well. From there you’re pretty much ready to go. It is, you could say an intimate marketing PR affiliate, or a product creator, you should probably have an account with JVZoo.

Once you’re logged in click on sellers and you will see “Sellers Dashboard”. From there you will see “Add A Product”.

It’s free! For this example guys, I’m going to use one of our current products to fill in the blanks. So, you’ve got two columns and we’re gonna start on the left with basic information.

Allow Sales.
 Generally, we leave this to “Yes” at all times.

Launch Date and Time. Now, because this product was already launched we’ll select today’s date and time at 6:00 am EST.

Product Library. Here you will find different products. If someone searches a product or someone views your profile on JVZoo, would you like your product to be shown. You have an option to show or hide it, but because this is only an example I’m gonna leave it as “No”.

Product Name. Product name is self-explanatory. We’ll be using “IM Newbie Internet Marketing Training”, as the product name. Internal product name is actually a new feature JVZoo added and so we’ll call it the same.

Currency. Majority of people are using US dollars. If you want to sell in euro or pounds, sterling Australian dollar, or Japanese yen, these are all available. Most of the cases guys it will be US dollar.

Product Price. Maximum price if it’s a dime sale. Payments if it’s recurring. For example if I have a membership signed and it is $27 per month, we will put in $27. If we are running a dime sale, which is actually we’ll set up for this offer, put in the maximum price. I’ll give you this example, if the dime sale start at $1.00 the maximum price of that would be $9.95.

Commission. Okay, commission proof payout percentage. How much are you gonna pay your affiliates for promoting your offer? Well here’s a little tip. Generally, as you would see in the marketplace, majority of offers below is $10 and people pay out 100% commission. In that case if they’re above let’s say $17.20, $7.30, $7.00, it’s generally 50% commission.

So using the grids, I will be going with 100% commission. So for quantity if unlimited and considering we are always selling digital products, this is always left empty. Obviously, if you have a limited quantity you can’t add this.

Email Address. Support email address is very important. So, put this in your contact email address, and if you have a support desk URL, place that in as well. JVZoo will include these in the receipt or if there are any issues they know where to go. So we got our support email address and we have our support URL.

Landing page, Sales page, Squeeze page and Pre-launch Page. To explain why you have two different URL’s here. One example would be, if I am to set this launch date to next month, I would put in a squeeze page URL. Then once the sales page goes live I could put in the sales page URL. Generally guys, we put in same URL for both cases. Even if we were doing a launch and we’ve got an early bird page, we would put in the home page URL and we would change it inside our presetting. Other people use the system and our system’s the same URL in both places. Let it be the early bird page if it’s not live. And if it’s live obviously the sales page.

Let’s grab the sales page URL. I’m gonna clone the actual sales page we are currently using and rename it as Dimesale. We will copy the link URL and go back to JVZoo. Again guys let’s fill in the blanks. Send all traffic to sales page after launched time. Sales page URL, again, same URL.

Pass Affiliate ID. People might be asking questions on Pass Affiliate ID to the sales page. So what does this mean? When someone clicks on that link through an affilaite URL if it is change to YES. To me the only logical reason people would do that is if they’re using that URL for tracking purposes. For example if they’re putting them inside an auto responder service, or if they want to track it from a different way. Generally, I’ve never used that system. We never have any use for that system because we can track everything in reports. So 100% of the time for me guys this is off, unless you’re doing something advanced.

Thank You / Download Page. Okay, guys this part is important. Something I think everyone should know. Sell product and let’s say it’s a PDF report. After someone purchase that product they click and access your purchase and straight away the PDF report opens. It might make sense, it’s quick and easy but you’re leaving out a lot of the money. A lot of money off on the table using this method. If you ask people to sign up through a membership and the content is then secure. Reason number two is you’re gonna be getting their mail and email address again. They’re gonna be stored in a database. Reason number three inside that membership site, you could have affiliate links or banners for your other products. You could have access for example. If you had a funnel where you were selling a PDF and there was a video training course and then there was coaching. Inside the membership site they access the PDF, but you can also have links there if you miss the coaching upgrade. Here if you miss the video training, upgrade here. A lot of people, you could put it this way.

There is a lot of money to be made inside a members area once the customer gets there. So generally guys, we will always use a thank you page URL, and we will secure it with a membership script. I would say 70% of marketers or 80% just put an insecure download page. We tend to put a secure membership area. So rather than reveal that link live guys, I’m just gonna put in for this example I’m just gonna put in the, copy the sales page and I’m just gonna put in thank you, and we can add to that afterwards.

Refund. So the next thing is refund period. People have a 7day but 14 days is becoming more popular. The most popular would be 30 day and some affiliates like to put 45 day, and 60 day for some product vendors. Generally , our refund period is 30 days. On to the most common asked question regarding make my product eligible for JVZoo product of the day. So, let’s click this and see what happens.

Product Of The Day. By checking this box above you’re expressing to us that you would like to be considered for product of the day. A daily email to send to buyers who have previously purchased products from other vendors that also choose to be considered. If chosen as product of the day, JVZoo will be an affiliate in the email. What this really means is, your customer database, anyone who purchases your product will go on the JVZoo customer email list as well. Now, you could say this is a bad thing, but JVZoo at this stage guys, have everyone’s email. So it’s not that you’re going to be handing them over new customers. So it’s nothing really to worry about. If people are worried about that, it’s not an issue, if it is an issue, you can basically uncheck it.

Right, the next thing is something that come into play, I would say six months maybe a year ago when you click product of the day, would you like to give JVZoo a custom commission. Now considering it’s already set to 100%, I can not increase it.

Does JVZoo like it when you increase their commission?

If all the other affiliates are on 50% should you increase you price to 75% for JVZoo. At times guys I’ve actually asked, and everything influences whether you get product of the day or not. They’re gonna look at your sales copy. They’re gonna look at your sales page. They’re gonna look at your refund rate. They’re gonna look at your conversion rate. And they’re gonna look at if you’re set to custom commission. So generally in upsales guys, I’d probably increase that. If normal affiliates are on 50% at times I will increase this to 60%, or 75%. I’m not a fan of, for example putting 100% across the whole form for JVZoo. One of the main reasons you want your product to be the product of the day is obviously when JVZoo send an email or they promote your product. They can generally bring in between 100, 200, maybe 200, 300 sales. This is a lot of sales and a lot of money. If you put in 100% commission, it means you’re not actually getting anything from that. So, that’s basically the reason guys. We always put in either 100% if it’s a 100%, or 75, or 60. I know that topic, it comes up a lot.

Affiliate Terms. Let’s go to JVZoo top sellers. For example, if you make less than 50 sales on JVZoo please explain how you plan to promote video as traffic. So you must agree to the terms and if you want to promote the product. Generally, yes we actually should use that. And we should actually put in something, if you get less than 50 sales you will replace them the late commission. I think most affiliates know it at this stage. So it’s completely optional guys. If you want to put affiliate terms in your note, from what I notice, less than 25% of people actually do.

Notes To Affiliates. This is one which I think is very important. That I think 50% of affiliates actually miss. So, let’s take this example and this is probably an OTO so there’s no affiliate terms. This is, a product that’s in top sellers, but if I wanted to promote this product and I wanted to get emails, there’s actually no details available. In this case, this person has done it correctly, they’ve got additional affiliate information, got all the tool you need to promote on the JV page. Which is pretty much what we do every time.

HTML Enabled. Inside notes to affiliates we usually put html is enabled. Basically, they don’t have to copy or paste so a little bit of html. Pagereference includes imnewbie .org, and in this case guys, we’re linking them to the actual JV page. So, we want the link to open up in a new window, so we put target=”_blank”. We will put in visit JV page and then close it. Here we take this example. Where it says additional affiliate information, it’s gonna be a big link saying visit JV page. You will see some vendors doing this. There are some people that do it really good, for example, you can put images or videos. You can actually put anything you want, because html is enabled.

Customer Email Receipt. Again, that is something I’ve actually never used, because we use a secure list, which lists membership. Most of the time I’ve seen this being used is software, or if you’re using a different secure membership log in, they will provide information to place on here, again, guys, we leave this blank. Not something we worry about. Custom receipt, email receipt, again we always leave this blank. To just default we send our own emails.

So that is everything on the first column.

PayPal or Stripe. With JVZoo you can use PayPal or Stripe. We got Stripe connected, but we only use PayPal. In this case JVZoo product library description for buyers, a lot of people leave this blank guys. And it’s not something you should do. Where people say this, let’s get an example. Let’s just go up here to sales page, add to cart, I don’t know any of these products, guys, I don’t know what’s gonna appear on the actual checkout page. But we will find out very quickly.

Checkout Page. On the checkout page, he has put video training, on viral, Facebook video ads. And where the text goes in is description for buyers. So we tend to, I won’t say hype this up, but basically we look at it that there is a checkout loose. You can’t be leaving the checkout guys. There’s a massive amount of times it happens, and for example, I’m going to end up leaving this checkout now. Some people end up clicking, they might end up thinking about buying, and then just try and walk away. So I use this description here as a last chance, to sell, to actually close them. So what we put in here is, 32 part video training series. And then we can assure them that for example, one time payment. One time payment and instant access. So, that is, it just looks a little bit better on the checkout page, obviously rather than leaving it blank.

Okay creating a character the other reason for this. Let’s say if affiliates are searching for products on JVZoo, and you have it in the right category, with the right keywords, you can actually, basically they’ll come across your product that way. So this is gonna be intimate marketing. And we’ll leave it at, intimate marketing general.

Dime Sale. Right next important part. Do we want this offer to be a dime sale? In this case, yes! What I’m going to do is to maximum the price and it is gonna be $9.95.

Auto Responder. Next is, you choose the auto responder, as you can see, JVZoo integrates with response, Sandwich, mail, and AWeber, you can also collect the emails when they sign up for your membership site. My recommendation is get them in both places. So, we will choose AWeber, API, we already have that connected. And we will choose the buyers list for this product.

Webinar Integration. This is very useful. There’s two or three ways you can use this, but if we were selling a webinar training program, we automatically put the go to webinar link in here. It works perfect every time everyone gets signed up for the webinar, it works as a charm. There is another reason you gonna have to do that. If you’re gonna do a bonus webinar for everyone to purchase your product, you can put the link as well. Now this is something we’ve done in the past, and I might as well mention it. We noticed that if you’re gonna automatically register people for a webinar, in this case the show rate is gonna be a lot lower than expected. So we tend to ask people, the customers to actually sign up for our bonus webinars in that case. So we will be leaving this blank. Right, retargeting and conversions. Replace old retarget and conversion codes on our thank you pages and inside our membership area. Again guys you can use this if you want. It’s not something we use.

External Program Integration. This is if you’re just selling a product for a onetime payment, this is not required. We’ll be putting in the wish list link here. Nothing else is really required. If you’re gonna be selling a recurring membership site. And let’s say you want people to cancel automatically, you won’t look after refunds, et cetera. You would have to look after this. Again guys, for 95% of the people launching products, they do not need to worry about this. They do not need to worry about retargeting. And they do not need to worry about webinar integration. Everything else was pretty self explanatory. Product name, product price, support details. Thank you page URL. Understanding the product of the day. Putting in where your affiliates can actually get access to the JV page. Then we’ve got your payment options. You’ve got a description for your buyers. You’ve got your dime sale options. You’ve got your others under integration. And that’s it with everything under one page. So, you have good job JVZoo on this. To me, out of all the networks, JVZoo is probably my favorite for this reason. So, after all is done guys. Let’s say a product, if there was errors, the errors would show up on the top with red. And in this case, there is no errors.

We pretty much, we covered everything I wanted to do inside JVZoo setting up one product. What I wanted to do now is very important and that is to set up an actual sales.

OTO. Now I’m not going to setup a new OTO. I want to show you guys this part ’cause it is very important. So we got the sellers and the sales funnels. We will add a new sales funnel. We are gonna call this IM Newbie Dimesale. Or if I wished I could actually add it to another sales funnel, but, what most of you guys, or everyone will be doing is a new product. Then you create a new sales funnel. And this is where first we selected the frontend product, so we call it IM Newbie. IM Newbie Internet Marketing Training. Click add. What JVZoo does in this case it builds basically a map for you. So just for demonstration purposes let’s add some upsells and downsells. So, after the purchase on IM Newbie, where would they go? We would chose another product. So let’s just choose, IM Newbie OTO, IM Traffic, click add. So, step one in inside build a natural funnel, is place all the products you want inside your funnel. And follow, basically follow everything it says, so, after the customer buys IM Newbie, they’re gonna see IM Traffic. If the customer buys IM Traffic, you can say okay, what would I like to show them? I’d like to give them a receipt. If the customer says no to IM Traffic, maybe you want to show them another product. So we’ll just put in IM affiliate funnel, as an example. Click add. And another row is gonna add down here. So if customer answers no thank you to IM affiliate funnel, you would need to add, in this case you would basically send them to receipt, so yeah, you would need to add an upsell. So, that is exactly how it works right.


Buy Now Buttons. Let’s move on to the next part. JVZoo, you’ve got buy buttons for the frontend product. And you’ve got buy buttons for all the other products. The biggest mistake I’ve seen for frontend products, people click on the buy now button. And JVZoo provides a no thank you link, at the very top. And then it provides all the add to carts. It’s not required guys. You never, ever place a no thank you link on the frontend product. JVZoo shouldn’t really have that there from my point of view. So ignore the buy now link on the frontend product. You just grab the add to cart. Go over to your page, and we can actually edit the page. And place the add to cart. Right, next is, let’s just go back. With the OTO click buying button, it is super, super important, to put a no thank you link. It’s probably another common mistake. Why? So if someone purchases your frontend product, and you present them with an OTO, at the end of that page, they should have a no thank you link. So basically, if this is the end of the funnel and they click it they’ll end up going to JVZoo purchases. If it’s not the end of the funnel and you have more OTO’s and they click it, you’ll end up going to the complete opposite OTO.

Payments. It works, the big question I would get, people say, how are we going to worry about the payments? How are we gonna worry about the upsells, the downsells? How are we gonna worry about the affiliate getting paid? If you have the correct buy buttons in place, which is only a line of code, and the correct pass link in place, everything is gonna work perfectly. JVZoo it does everything for you in the background. It’s not something you need to worry about. So, okay, that is that. I want to show you guys one little trick here. For example, I’m gonna remove this. I’m gonna remove this buying button, and I’m just gonna put in the other one. So we’re gonna take this, and we’re gonna put in, let’s put in, I usually put in, you can put in text, or you can put in short code. I actually tend to put in short code. And paste it and play. You will notice it’s aligned to the left. And so if we’re using short codes, I see it on some peoples pages guys, and that’s why I mention it. It might be obvious to a lot, but, it’s a simple little editor code,

I put in <div align”center”>CART CODE</div> There’s obviously different ways you can center content. But this is exactly how it works. So that is the upsell, sorry, the downsell offer in place. All I need to do in this case, is actually clone the button, and replace any other buttons on that page. So, as I said for this offer guys I’m not actually gonna include any OTO’s in the funnel for the time being. When you’re removing products sometimes it asks you to work from the button, so you must remove the upsell and then remove the downsell. But it is very, very simple guys. So, we are back to frontend product, remove.
